Cabled Bird Box and Camera

The box is supplied with a 20 metre cable to connect to the nesting box at one end and your television at the other. The television end of the cable has a power connector that connects to a 12 Volt mains adapter (delivered with your nesting box) that supplies the power to the camera and also has 2 RCA/Phono connectors to plug into your television (either direct or via a SCART adapter supplied with the box).
The box is delivered with all the cables and adapters connected so you can see what plugs into what (it's very easy to be up and running).

Includes: Pre-wired nesting box. Three entrance panels with different size holes. 20 metres of 3 core audio/video/power cable (see below). AC to DC power adapter (see below). SCART adapter (see below). Adapter jack to allow audio connection to a PC sound card (see below). Quality CCD colour camera (see below).

The colour camera built into our boxes is a high quality 0.05 Lux CCD twin board camera with an on board microphone. CCD cameras are much better quality than CMOS, producing clearer pictures with better colour especially at lower light levels. The quality of our CCD camera and the filter it uses allows us to get the pictures you see on this web site.

Extra Bird Box (with internal wiring)

To optimise your chances of having birds nesting on camera, you can buy a spare bird box. This box is supplied complete with internal wiring and three different entrance hole sizes and all you have to do to move the camera between boxes is to swap the lids over, plug the camera into the top of the new box and plug the cable into the bottom.

3 Core Audio/Video/Power Cable (20 metres)

20 metres of three core "lapped" cable. Each of the 3 cores is shielded from the others to reduce signal interference. These cables can be joined together (with an included connector) to cover up to 100 metres. Click here to see pictures taken with different length cables. The connectors are RCA jacks on both ends (the supplied connector joins them to another cable), with a 2.1mm inline DC power jack on one end of the power core and a 2.1mm inline DC power socket on the other end.

Replacement Camera with Lid

As the camera we supply comes pre-fitted to the lid, if your camera should get attacked by squirrels we can supply a replacement camera and lid. All you then need to do is unscrew the old lid, unplug the camera from the box and replace with the new one. The specification for the camera is the same that is fitted in the standard box (see above).

Euresys Junior 4 Video Capture Card

If you want to watch the images from your nest box on a computer then you will need a video capture card. We recommend the Junior 4 from Euresys which provides four video inputs capable of operating simultaneously at a resolution of 768x576. Typical frame rates on each input are 7 FPS (frames per second) for all 4 inputs in use to 25 FPS for one input in use. For more information from the manufacturer click here.
