Welcome to the Great tit diaries!! This box is the original
Blue tit box which has been moved close to where we saw Great tits nesting last year. We enlarged the entrance
to the size for Great tits. However, although I have seen Great tits in the vicinity of this box, the Blue tits
have been taking an interest in it and have been coming inside. So for the time being, welcome also to the Blue tit diaries.

One of the Blue tits has found the relocated box and examined the damp closely. Following a fierce rain storm the box became quite damp inside, so
we have shifted it to a more sheltered position. It is still in the process of drying out but I think it is being met with some approval.

Here we see some careful scrutiny of the drainage hole in the box. I still don't know which is Mr and which is Mrs Blue.
These images are a tiny selection where our guest gazes from side to side, up and down , round and round. Its such a pedantic
process, making sure the box is ok for the task ahead. And hey, what is that up there?

This day last year nesting material first started to be brought into the box. This year is a lot colder. Visits
continue but no sign of nesting. Are they confused because of the other box? I guess its just not time to settle down
and start a family yet. Once all that activity starts there is just no time to relax and take stock of things so now is
the time to reflect and relax.
