Nesting material has finally started to appear in the box.

Yes! I know what I'm doing, so don't laugh, I have to try out new methods of assembling the material and distributing it in here.

There doesn't seem to be much progress. However, I think we might have a picture of each of the pair. And it looks as if some of the material has been removed from the box and the corner seems to be attracting a lot of attention.

There is still not a lot of progress in the building of the nest. There is also continued fascination with the corner of the box. I can't help but wonder at the internal workings of a bird brain.

I'm feeling more confident about progress as the nesting material is definitely increasing now. However, I am none the wiser about the fascination with the corners of the box although I can only guess that a decision has to be taken about which corner the nest should be tucked into. Finally we have a lovely long gaze outside.

A week later and a lot more material has been brought in. Also fanning activity has started. This is when the birds are compacting layers of nesting material.

The bird has started singing in the nest.

Progress continues very slowly. There seems to be a lot of procrastination going on. Perhaps she is not entirely happy with this nestbox.

Still no progress. Is she shouting to her mate outside for more nesting material?
Is she feeling very fed up? It looks like it to me!

She looks so small and depressed.
There still does not seem to be much progress.
I think something is wrong here.

But what is this? We have intruders!
The Great tits have arrived! One is sitting right down in the box calling to the other looking in at the entrance.

I think this explains why the nest building in this box has been so hesitant.
The Great tits may have been outside making their presence felt.
I have decided to put a number of pictures here as s/he is just so big and handsome.
We were very excited when we saw this development.
The other box became occupied later today and building was very rapid.
Unfortunately there has been no further sign of the Great tits since.
