Mr Blue is back, getting involved in the final fuelling of the little Blue's. I wonder if they go off and read the site at night...
| |
Mrs Blue entertains the little ones with a good old game of hide and seek...
| May 24 |
Mrs blue has discovered a new form of crowd control. It's certainly a novel approach to keep the rabble quiet.

Ready, Aim, Fire....Great catch by Mrs Blue...
| May 25 |
The morning starts with the first glimpse of the chicks preening them selves, its hard to believe that nine little blue birds make up the ball of fluff and feathers at the centre of our bird box...
| |
The mood in the box has changed and become quite frantic. Feeding is no longer a systematic approach in terms of distribution and is now a come and get it free for all. One can only surmise that this is part of the teaching method.
| |
The rest of the chicks, aghast and open beaked as Mrs Blue endures a rather unsavoury battle, 'tug of war' any one.
| May 26 |
The young blue's, I say young Blue's as their size has increased to the point where I feel I can no longer use the term chicks. The difference in size between them is apparent. Is this evidence of survival of the fattest?
| |
Space in the box has become limited, so much so that neither Mr nor Mrs Blue spends much time inside. I think now that the little ones aren't so little the pair can enjoy some outside activities together..

Ending the day with a little more flight training, natures version of the 'Blue Angels'
| May 27 |
Morning has broken but the silence in the bird box hasn't as nine young Blues enjoy a lie in.
| |
The young blues make plenty of space as Mrs Blue brings some thing in from the a la Carte menu, a starter of multiple legged creature, mmmmm
| May 28 |
Lots of flight activity, I feel today may be the day for the final training, living outside the box...
| |
One young blue flies to the hole, which bringeth food, and discovers the world. Unfortunately with this joyful prospect it has become apparent that one of the smaller of the Blues has died.

Plenty of activity has happened overnight and early morning, some pleasing some not so...As you can see the box appears to be one or two blues lighter, Mrs Blue gives the final two the last briefing.
| |
As you can see, the tail feathers of the last Blue to explore the open skies. On the right the sun shines for the three unfortunate Blues. I have to admit these last few days have been emotional.
The Blue Angels are the American equivalent of the Red Arrows, This reference appears to be extremely apt, so here's to Natures Blue angels, may they fly the open skies of the heavenly gardens.
Well here's till next year...Thank you
